I’ve always painted people that fascinate me and Goldie is a perfect example, discovering his music 30 years ago. Although I love the simplicity of this pose, Goldie’s life has been anything but simple from his many artistic and musical achievements, revolutionising U.K. dance music several times over.
He’s also endured great tragedy and watching his interviews regarding his upbringing, the way he sees colour in music and his yoga there are many aspects to his personality that I wanted to capture in this portrait, in short I get the feeling the man doesn’t take life too seriously these days, I hope this portrait reflects this side of him.
