Portrait of the Countess of Shaftesbury
Measurements:
100×70 cm
Technique:
Oil on Board
Description:
When the Earl, Countess and myself discussed this portrait it was important to show the bond between the Countess and her Champion horse Frankie as well as including part of the surrounding landscape of St Giles House.
The Countess expressed after receiving the portrait that it was the most wonderful gift she’d ever received.
I think that what makes a portrait painting such a special gift is the sentimental value that it represents, the making process and the all experience that comes with it.
A portrait painting is also a present that creates new long lasting memories strengthening the bond between people as it shows to the person that receives the gift just how thoughtful and committed the person that has commissioned the gift really is.
A portrait painting is neither something that can be done quickly nor bought at the last minute. It takes weeks or even months to be completed.
